Hempire-EC is an industrial cluster for hemp and cannabis in the Eastern Cape. We bring growers, buyers and partners together at a scale that markets will actually contract with.
Cohort 1 is 46 registered growers across six district municipalities — Amathole, Buffalo City, Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi, OR Tambo and Sarah Baartman — with field verification under way.
Three ways to join. Choose the one that fits you.
Processors, service providers, equipment suppliers and training partners who want to be part of the hemp economy here. Membership connects you to the growers, the buyers and the programme.
Apply for membershipYou need land you have the right to farm, a hemp permit, and a willingness to be verified on site. You get a growing calendar, a district coordinator, and a place in a cluster when it reaches viable scale.
Apply to joinWe aggregate verified smallholder growers into district clusters large enough to contract against — so you deal with one accountable programme, not fifty separate farmers.
Register interestYour first contact is always your district coordinator. They visit your land, help with your paperwork and answer your questions — you do not need to travel to East London to get help. If something is late or a problem comes up, tell them early. Nothing you tell us affects your place in the programme.

Programme figures reflect Cohort 1 as currently registered. Hectares are self-declared at registration and confirmed by field verification; verified figures may differ. Costings are indicative pending ECRDA’s updated costing model.
